Naja Newell
Associate Producer
Naja Newell oversees the production management and creative process of all films from production to distribution. Serving as both the community partnership liaison and strategist, Naja also manages the Sandbox brand voice online and in person, developing innovative programming and opportunities to cultivate and nurture relationships with filmmakers, industry leaders, and mission-aligned organizations. She has directed and produced films nominated for Best Screenplay and Best Documentary in CUNY Film Festival, as well as won the Tribeca Film Festival award for Best Narrative. Her experimental work has also been featured in the EstroGenius Festival, an annual celebration of the artistry of femme, non-binary, non-conforming and trans womxn artists. Gravitating toward human connectivity, Naja has a strong passion for crafting compelling non-fiction stories that introduce new perspectives, push boundaries, and inspire “good trouble”. She holds a dual degree in Journalism and Dance from Hunter College.
